I'm thrilled to share my incredible journey through the second month of my transformational experience in the Tiidelab Fellowship Cohort 5's tech program. Time seems to have flown by like the wind, and it's astonishing to realize that we've already completed the first two months. If you missed the first episode, you can catch up here.
This month, we embarked on a captivating journey into the world of JavaScript**.**
Exploring the JavaScript Frontier
Our journey began with the fundamentals of JavaScript:
We delved into variables and data types, gaining a solid understanding of the building blocks of the language.
We explored the world of interaction with JavaScript through alert, prompt, and confirm functions.
Then came the exciting part – learning about conditional statements, including the if statement, if-else, and else-if statements, and the powerful switch statement.
What made this experience truly exceptional was our brilliant tutor, Mr. Ibrahim Lukman popularly known as Mr. Kenny, a teacher per excellence who masterfully simplified JavaScript for us. Armed with my newfound knowledge of conditional and switch statements, as well as functions (both parameterized and parameterless), we embarked on a project to simulate ATM operations.
Moving forward, we dived into the Document Object Model (DOM), a crucial tool for manipulating HTML documents.
we concluded with a deep dive into array methods. These built-in JavaScript functions offer us efficient ways to manipulate arrays, sparing us the need to write custom functions from scratch.
One standout method we explored was the sort() method of an array, allowing us to effortlessly sort array elements using default or custom sorting rules.
Team Project Progress
As mentioned in my previous episode, our team project revolves around an electronic health record app called BITMEDICS. In an exciting development, we successfully conducted our second sprint presentation. During this presentation, we showcased our fully functional software and the essential functional requirements to the esteemed Council of Elders. Additionally, we presented the number of desktop pages we had designed using the UI/UX knowledge gained in the first month, which was warmly endorsed.
Professional Development
Our professional classes with our exceptional coordinator, Mr. Aderoju Shamsudeen, were enlightening. We delved into the realms of design thinking processes, decision-making, and ethical decision-making processes. These classes had a profound impact on my communication and decision-making abilities, enabling me to make informed decisions like a pro, considering various aspects as taught in class.
Leadership Experience
In this second episode, I'm thrilled to share my leadership journey. In week six, I emerged as the 6th Head of House, alongside my colleague Muhammad Najeeb. This experience allowed me to showcase my leadership prowess and refine my skills in the process. I efficiently disseminated timely information as a bridge between my cohort members and our coordinator. You can catch up on the full leadership experience by clicking on the image.
I also had the privilege of delivering a presentation on Array methods for my team. This experience revealed that my presentation skills had improved significantly, and I'm eager to continue honing them to achieve my goal of delivering seamless presentations, whether prepared or impromptu.
I extend my heartfelt appreciation to our coordinator and mentors for consistently providing us with invaluable guidance and support.
